Description
The Pisgah Dobson blends classic 19th-century tone with modern craftsmanship in a lightweight, responsive instrument that’s a joy to play. Built around an 11” cherry rim with a walnut rim cap, this banjo offers a focused, articulate voice with a warm midrange and clear projection. The short 25 1/2” scale provides a comfortable feel and slightly lower string tension—perfect for clawhammer and melodic styles alike.
At its heart lies our Dobson tone ring, faithfully modeled after the 1881 original, delivering that unmistakable bell-like sustain and crisp note separation. The persimmon fingerboard with S-scoop offers a smooth playing surface and plenty of room for right-hand technique at the neck joint.
Every detail is crafted with care: a traditional dowel stick construction for vintage integrity, aged brass hardware for a time-worn aesthetic, and a Renaissance head for balanced tone. Gotoh tuners ensure rock-solid tuning stability, and the two-way adjustable truss rod allows easy neck adjustments over time.
This model ships with an Access Stage One case and is backed by our Pisgah limited lifetime warranty, built to inspire a lifetime of music.
