An Open Letter from Pisgah Banjo Company

Folks,

Silence is a choice. Right now it is the wrong one.

PBCO stands against ICE and the systems of fear and displacement are harming immigrant and BIPOC communities. When the government fails to protect people, it is up to the rest of us to step up. Neighbors. Musicians. Banjo Manufacturers, All of us.

And it works.

We are seeing it in real time. Communities organizing and showing up led to ICE pulling out of Minneapolis. Protest works. Speaking up works. People power works.

The banjo has always been part of that story. Its roots are Black. Its history is resistance and survival. This instrument has always belonged to people pushing back against oppression. Staying quiet now would go against everything the banjo and its history stands for.

So we are choosing to speak and we are choosing to act.

Our Arnold Shultz Fund raffle raises money for groups doing real, on the ground work for immigrant justice and BIPOC communities. The raffle runs through the end of this month, Black History Month. So far we have raised over  $22,000 and we need your help to reach our goal.

If you believe in this work, this is a simple way to show up, vote with your dollar and support this mission.
