Description

Built in the mountains of Western North Carolina, the Dobson is our tribute to the late 19th-century open-backs that set the standard for tone and craftsmanship. At its heart is our faithfully recreated 1881 Dobson tone ring, offering the bell-like sustain and crisp, articulate response that made the original a legend among players and collectors alike.

The 12″ painted ash rim brings natural warmth and depth to every note, while the stabilized dyed walnut fingerboard adds striking visual characteristics without sacrificing playability. Aged brass hardware, a folk heel, and traditional dowel stick construction honor the instrument’s roots. A two-way adjustable truss rod quietly ensure it stays in peak playing condition for decades to come.
