If you’ve ever wanted to build something meaningful with your hands—something that sings, that travels the world, that gets passed down through generations—this might be your moment.
Pisgah Banjo Company is growing, and we’re looking for a full-time Lean Manufacturing Production Technician to join our team in Fairview, NC. This isn’t just a job—it’s a chance to be part of a small, passionate crew dedicated to making world-class, handcrafted banjos using sustainable materials and time-honored techniques.
We believe in the power of craftsmanship, lean manufacturing, and doing things the right way, not the fast way. Every instrument that leaves our shop carries with it hours of careful work and a deep respect for tradition. Now, we need another set of skilled, motivated hands to help us carry that forward.
Here’s What the Role Looks Like:
You’ll be involved in building banjos from start to finish—working with wood, brass, finishes, and fine details using lean manufacturing principles. From brazing tone rings to final assembly, you’ll be part of the process every step of the way.
We’re looking for someone with 3–5 years of experience in a trade or lean factory setting. If you’re familiar with woodworking tools, metalworking equipment, or have experience building or repairing instruments, you’re speaking our language. If you’ve read The Toyota Way and get excited about process improvement, even better.
This is a hands-on job. You’ll need to be punctual, dependable, a solid communicator, and comfortable lifting up to 40 lbs from time to time. Our schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
What We’re Offering:
-
Pay starts at $18–$25/hour, based on your experience and skill level
-
Performance review after 90 days, with eligibility for a $250/month health insurance stipend or $300/month toward a quality BCBS PPO or HSA plan
-
Paid time off: 3 sick days and 7 holidays annually
-
Vacation: 1 week paid after 90 days, 2 weeks after a year
-
Raises: Evaluated twice a year, based on performance
At Pisgah, we’re proud of our roots, our values, and our team. We run a relaxed but focused shop, guided by a commitment to sustainability, local sourcing, and a deep love for what we do. We strongly encourage applications from women, BIPOC, LGBTQ+ folks, and anyone who’s excited about building something real.
So, if you’re someone who’s passionate about craftsmanship, lean process, and the soul of a good banjo—we want to hear from you.
